she liked my home piece mca, he said he would not give her play, i asked him “please” he said “you may”
on friday the music world lost a pioneer as adam yauch aka mca of the beastie boys passed away after a long battle with cancer. i remember licensed to ill being one of the first rap album i ever purchased and just getting totally wrapped up in the grit and awesomeness that the beastie boys put on every track. though “girls” is not the best representation of their skills, the simple beat and catchiness make this song one of the many reasons why the beastie boys had so many fans.
rip adam, you will be missed

throoooowback thursday. now, this song is screaaaaming for a nice little remix. but, until that happens, we have to love it for the oldies jam that it is. the shirelles have 2 songs on the greatest hits of all time list and are considered to be the first girl group to crack the billboard top 100 if not the first girl group…ever. this song was not their most popular, but i know you all know it.
there’d be days like this my mama said.
