no knock on ellie’s original music but i am a huge fan of the her covers. she absolutely crushed her cover of the weeknd’s “high for this” (here) and her elton john cover of “your song” left me speechless. this time around she tackles the active child hit “hanging on”. by teaming up with british rapper tinie tempah, ellie adds her own unique darker synthy melody with her amazing vocals to create another knockout. though tinie’s verse is not ideal and kindof messes with the flow of the song (aLc i know you agree) the pairing is a good mix, just not on this song.
